Garden County Road Department Update as of 05/02/2011:
***Road Closures: Fairgrounds Road.
***2009 Disaster - FEMA update:
- Garden County suffered disastrous flooding damage that occurred June 5 to June 26, 2009. Approximately 50 to 60 total miles of non-federal aid roads and approximately 10 miles of federal-aid roads were damaged in Garden County and required extensive repair. The total award from FEMA to aid in repair costs is $873,885.46. Federal money that has been received by Garden County totals $653,333.00. The remainder will be received with the completion of the project and certification reports. Road repair project costs are as follows: Gravel Installation Project - $380,000.00; Rip Rap Installation Project - $74,000.00; Culverts and Culvert Installation Project - $20,000.00. The balance of the award will help reimburse 4,000 hours of work that has been spent reconstructing and rehabilitating the roads after the disaster.

- Garden County Road Department will be closed Monday, September 5, 2011 in observance of Labor Day.

- Public input is welcome. If you know of any specific area where tree trimming needs done or large rocks need to be removed from the roadway, please call the Road Department Office at 308-772-4344.

- Garden County Road Department would like to remind everyone that fishing from county bridges is prohibited by law. Garden County Sheriff's Department will be issuing citations to those in violation of the terms of the following resolution: Resolution: That pursuant to Section 39-697, R.R.S. 1943, as amended, the Board of County Commissioners of Garden County, Nebraska with respect to the county roads under its jurisdiction and within the reasonable exercise of the police power and also in an effort to control the movement of vehicles over said county roads and bridges thereby making it safer for vehicles to travel thereon adopt the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF GARDEN COUNTY NEBRASKA THAT it shall be unlawful for any vehicle to stop or park upon the approaches to the Lewellen Bridge over the North Platte river and to stop or to park upon said bridge. That it shall be unlawful for any person to stop or to stand upon said bridge or the approaches to said bridge. That it shall be unlawful for any vehicle to stop or park upon the approaches to the Lisco Bridge over the North Platte River and to stop or to park upon said bridge. That it shall be unlawful for any person to stop and to stand upon said bridge or the approaches to said bridge. Any person found violating this Resolution shall be punished in accordance with Section 39-6, 112 R.R.S., 1943, as amended. Passed and approved this 14th day of July, 1986.
